Zak´uhr; Heb., “remembered”
1 A Reubenite, the father of Shammua, one of the twelve spies sent by Moses into Canaan (Num 13:4). 2 A descendant of Simeon (1Chr 4:26). 3 A Levite of the clan of Merari (1Chr 24:27). 4 A levitical musician of the clan of Asaph and head of the third course of musicians in the time of King David (1Chr 25:1; 1Chr 25:10). He is probably the same person who is listed as the ancestor of a postexilic musician (Neh 12:35). 5 The son of Imri who helped repair the walls of Jerusalem under Nehemiah (Neh 3:2). 6 A Levite who signed the postexilic covenant to keep the law (Neh 10:12); he is possibly the same Levite who was the father of Hanan, a Temple official in the time of Nehemiah (Neh 13:13). 7 A member of the clan of Bigvai who returned from the Babylonian captivity with Ezra (Ezra 8:14).
